    Are you looking for a rewarding career in law enforcement?  Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office is hiring for a Sobriety Compliance Coordinator.   
    Under general direction of the Special Operations Captain, this position coordinates the daily functions of the Sobriety Compliance Program.
    The knowledge skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of this position are typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least one (1) year experience handling cash and working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
    Who We Are
    The Lewis & Clark County Sheriff's Office is the chief law enforcement agency in Lewis & Clark County, Montana. It is comprised of over eighty employees including sworn officers, detention officers and professional support staff. The Sheriff's Office provides general law enforcement, detention functions, rural fire support and search and rescue operations for the citizens of Lewis & Clark County in a service area of over two million acres. Additionally, this agency provides specialized regional services to the entire county and contract law enforcement to specific areas.

    Essential Functions
    • Coordinate the daily functions of the Sobriety Compliance Program;
    • Coordinate with various courts to enroll individuals that are court ordered to participate in the 24/7 Program;
    • Perform breath tests and accurately record and process results;
    • Install and remove GPS and house arrest bracelets as directed by the courts; 
    • Maintain records and complete documentation regarding participant compliance and test results;
    • Documents daily shift activities;
    • Collect fees and reconcile financial transactions daily;
    • Schedule sobriety compliance program staff;
    • Respond to inquiries from various agencies such as attorneys, court clerks, clients, and other testing facilities within the state;
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Other Functions

    • Provide court testimony in court proceedings;
    • Prepare budget for sobriety compliance program;
    • Order supplies for sobriety compliance program.
     Examples of Knowledge
    • Applicable Montana Code Annotated and State regulations;
    • Lewis and Clark County and policies and procedures;
    • Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures;
    • 24-7 program policies and procedures.
     
    Examples of Skills and Abilities 
    • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
    • Use common office equipment such as computer, phone, printer, 10-key calculator, and software including word; processing, spreadsheets, and emails;
    • Operate Portable Breath Test instruments and Alcohol Monitoring Equipment;
    • Maintain records according to prescribed standards and follow any established chain of evidence procedures;
    • Establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, law enforcement personnel, court personnel, attorneys, program participants, community members, equipment vendors, and supervisors;
    • Review data and forms for accuracy;
    • Record and conduct cash transactions according to prescribed standards;
    • Read and understand various Court documents.
     Special Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.Physical Demands Duties are generally performed in an office environment where hazards and discomforts are controlled and modifiable.  This position requires the ability to stand, bend at the waist, kneel, reach over the head, talk, hear, and see.  Must be able to move or lift documents and materials weighing up to 40 pounds.  Position requires knowledge and use of typical office equipment including telephone, copiers, scanner, microfilm reader, fax machines and personal computer.  Position requires frequent contact with co-workers, attorneys and citizens. Position requires working on call after hours.
