Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office is hiring for aPhysicianto work in theDetentionCenter. Under the administrative direction of the Detention Captain, this position provides primary care and preventive health services to patients located in the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.
Who We Are The Lewis & Clark County Sheriff's Office is the chief law enforcement agency in Lewis & Clark County, Montana. It is comprised of over eighty employees including sworn officers, detention officers and professional support staff. The Sheriff's Office provides general law enforcement, detention functions, rural fire support and search and rescue operations for the citizens of Lewis & Clark County in a service area of over two million acres. Additionally, this agency provides specialized regional services to the entire county and contract law enforcement to specific areas.

Requirements
The knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a MD or DO. Eligible to practice medicine in the State of Montana. Must become X Wavier (MAT) certified within three (3) months of hire. Public sector health provider and electronic health record experience is preferred. Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) candidates may be considered.
SummaryDuties and Responsibilities
Provides primary care and preventive health services to clinic patients including but not limited to examination, diagnosis, treatment and therapeutic procedures;
Coordinates patient medical care with other health professionals;
Dispenses pharmaceuticals;
Maintains patient medical records;
Assists in the implementation and evaluation of performance improvement program and quality assurance activities;
Performs on-call and in-patient responsibilities;
Provides direction to and nursing staff;
Attends meetings when requested;
Consults with Detention Captain and clinic staff on matters relating to patient care, records maintenance, emerging issues, training needs, and clinic protocols;
Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands Duties are generally performed in the detention center, in an office/detention setting where hazards and discomforts are controlled and modifiable. This position requires the ability to stand, bend at the waist, kneel, reach over the head, talk, hear, see, and perform physical assessments. Must be able to move or lift documents and materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Position requires use of typical office equipment including telephone, copiers, fax machines and personal computer plus medical equipment and instruments. Position requires regular contact with clinic employees and patients, with occasional contact with community service agencies. Position requires travel to and from office to hospital, nursing homes, and other health care facilities.
Special Requirements Must pass a background check. Must become MAT certified within three (3) months of hire.
