Duties Performs administrative support and reception duties for the Sheriff’s office/Detention Center; Schedules and arranges meetings for the Sheriff and Executive staff; Greets and assists citizens with requests for information; Including phone calls and electronic correspondence; Processes paperwork pertaining to license and permit procedures; Performs background checks for Inmate Visitors, and book & releases; Maintains office files; including inmate “Jacket” files; Composes correspondence and proofs reports for grammatical errors; Performs data entry; Receives and distributes incoming mail, Including scanning postal mail; Notarizes documents; Performs other duties as assigned. Examples of Knowledge Sheriff’s Office programs, policies and procedures; Lewis and Clark County policies and procedures; Office methods, practices and procedures; Business English, composition, law enforcement terminology, spelling and grammar. Physical Demands Duties are generally performed in an office setting where hazards and discomforts are controlled and modifiable. This position requires the ability to bend at the waist, kneel, reach over the head, talk, hear, and see. Position requires knowledge and use of typical office equipment including telephone and personal computer. Must be able to move or lift materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Position requires frequent contact with fellow employees and citizens. Special Requirements Must be able to pass a background investigation and become a Notary within one (1) year of employment.
